Immediate implementation of local public transport is essential for Gurgaon. Hence the state plans to start organised bus operations through major corridors of Gurgaon. A study for the proposed bus routes has already been conducted and its recommendations accepted. But keeping in view the development potential this may not be sufficient.

A new approach to transport planning as an important part of overall planned development is essential. Understanding the needs of the people, their office, school or workplace timings and placement of opportunities of engaging social spaces may lighten the burden on wasteful round the day bus services. Making access to public transport with defined and displayed timings would make people less personal vehicle dependent. Bus shelters with well defined multi purpose identity at every 500m distance in the CBD area and about 1kms distance for other areas would promote use of public transport. The proposed bus corridors with bus stop locations (about 160, to be introduced in phases along with the development) are indicated in the diagram as a starting point of the transport plan.
